Student Activities

Cross Country
Every fall, Kongiganak participates in Cross-Country.  The team is made up of JH and HS students, girls and boys.

Native Youth Olympics (NYO)
Our village is very proud of our NYO team and program.  We are lucky enough to have Tommy Phillip, one of the first NYO coaches in LKSD, here to help guide our students during the season.  NYO has two season: fall and spring.  State NYO happens in Anchorage in the spring.

Basketball
Kong has three basketball teams:  Junior High, Girls and Boys Teams

Speech
Every fall JH and HS students participate in the LKSD Speech Meet in Bethel.  It is a three day meet where students compete in four speech categories, all of which can be in Yup'ik and English:  

• Humorous
• Dramatic
• Original Oration 
• Expository

Robotics

Our students participate in the Robotics program and create and program a robot to compete in the Robotics competition in the fall. 

LKSD Multimedia and iDida Contest

Yearly, our district hosts the LKSD Multimedia contest.  The contest asks students to submit original (digital) work in movies, photos, online books, music, podcasts, and more.  

The state competition is the iDida Contest.  When applicants for the LKSD multimedia contest are promising, they are submitted to the state contest as well.
