Since 2010, the 8th grade class of Ayagina'ar Elitnaurvik have worked hard to have a summer class trip.
To date, there have been four trips to the Lower 48, all going to the North Dakota/Minnesota area. The first trip was inspired partially by the book "Walk Two Moons" by Sharon Creech that the JH class was reading, and partially because they wanted to travel. That 8th grade class worked hard on fundraising and planning the first trip.
From there we have worked with the itinerary, adding and subtracting sights that previous groups have enjoyed or said "not again."
To fundraise for these trips, students run adult basketball tournaments, host movie/restaurant nights at the school, and seek donations from local and state businesses to help provide funding or donations for raffles during the tournaments. It is a village effort and the students, teacher, parents, and community members put in hours of volunteer hours to make these trips possible.
